While no serious historian would pretend Canada is the birthplace of the chocolate bar or the cradle of candy treats, we had a sweet thing going for most of the 20th century. Lowney's, Willa'rds, Neilson, Moirs, and others made delicious confections from home bases in Montréal, Toronto, Halifax, and elsewhere. Here we've collected thirty such confections, captioned them with vital information, and deployed them in deluxe print form.

Why do I say “we”? Because all pics and writing were provided by Brian Sheppard and his physical archive of historic Canadian sweets packaging, an archive that you can see on Instagram right here. There’s also a short video of me talking about the print on YouTube.

Printed with Epson UltraChrome XD2 archival ink on a sheet of 24x36" Epson Enhanced Matte 192 gsm paper with 1.5" margins. Sold in an open edition, unframed, signed and dated on reverse.
