I started drawing locomotives of note by taking on Canadian National Railway No. 7229, which is a GP9RM "port job" switcher locomotive that serves Montréal's south side. It spends a lot of time at the Pointe St. Charles yards just a few blocks from my place, and I thought it an excellent thing to make a portrait of. Want to see the real thing? Just go up to the Rue Sebastopol lookout and I bet it's there pulling rail cars, as it has for decades. Then came Canadian Pacific Railway No. 1410 in classic CP livery and a late '80s VIA No. 6440 in bold yellow. Last up? The Ontario Northlander No. 1510, as it looked serving between Toronto and Cochrane with regularity in the 1950s.
