If you're interested in learning more about the Clearview map series by Vernon-Might, take a walk over to the "Clearview City Directory Map (of) Sudbury, Ont." map in the Paper Cities collection and you'll find a few paragraphs about them. Otherwise, you can just stay here and enjoy their 1931 view of St. Catharines, Ontario.
This isn't the most ornate map in my collection, but the subtle details make it a true gem. Uniquely, it's a coloured Clearview map in dark blue. It's precisely balanced, it's almost entirely hand-lettered, and the hilarious tiny illustration on the Geo. W. Sadler auto electricians ad is priceless, even more so when you consider the humour is almost 100 years old. Bring me something from Diana Sweets next time you're at 67 St. Paul?
