Before I collected agricultural booklets I collected all kinds of Canadian atomic-age nuclear war ephemera, and one of the first things I collected was a later edition of this intriguing and grim 1961 booklet. Inside it: chapters like "Facts About Fallout," Personal Protection" and 24 pages about what do do with your soil, crops, water, livestock and dwellings in case of nuclear attack. Both 1961 and 1967 editions share a hazard-yellow cover, but this one's disturbing brown cloud brings the sense of menace to a whole other level. The French version came in 1962—better late than never?
