Southern Alberta is an engineering marvel, a landscape bound together by irrigation projects as small as the century-old weirs near Fort Macleod and as large as the Brooks Aqueduct. Much like the area has been "edited" for water needs, the cover of Growing Irrigated Crops needed some engineering to turn into a viable piece of art. In short: a very obtrusive library sticker blocked the top left photo on my copy, so I found a very period-correct and regionally-correct combine image to replace it.
Some 21st folks use AI to doctor images, but I'm much happier cutting and pasting from historic agricultural catalogues. In this way, we can keep things at least a little real.
