The first of my three London, Ontario, maps shows the city in 1872 with a population of 20000. It looks to the northeast of London and was drawn by the American birds-eye view artist Eli Sheldon Glover. His long career brought him to Canada twice—once in 1878 to make an image of Victoria, the other time to make this. I’d call both masterpieces of the genre, but this one has been corrupted by time and my touch-up skills can only go so far. Maybe that’s a plus, if you're into the patina of time?
