Throughout the Agricultural Arts collection, you can see the same skilled artistic hand at work across subject matters and publications, even though those artistic hands were never credited and remained anonymous. Some of those hands, though, were not so skilled. Or were in a hurry. This 1962 cover is a perfect example of that.
Note the inconsistent baselines (ie. how "STR" and "EAK" do not line up vertically) and how the horizontal spaces between letters (kerning) is wildly inconsistent. Before you think I'm complaining, note that I find this charming—like a 1990s punk rock zine made by a passionate, careless, and artless friend
