It's 1954 and your brand new white Ford Thunderbird is parked off the side of the road, right between the Vermillion Lakes and Mount Norquay. In your hand is a National Parks Service map (this exact one), crisp off the presses. It presented you with so many pleasure cruise options for this summer Sunday, but the car's brakes weren't made for these kinds of inclines. You're going nowhere. So much for that Lake Minnewanka picnic near the wharf.
