I have no idea why the Ontario Department of Agriculture thought it needed to publish a booklet about rock gardens in 1961, but I’m very happy they did. This beauty (I know I overuse that word, but there it is) uses five shades of brown to dance around the subject. Yes, they’re rocks, but those shadows don’t make visual sense - the artist (uncredited) was more concerned with impressions than realism. Three cheers for smart use of overprints. The authors listed at bottom? They're the Ontario Agriculture College's Everett Biggs and newly-minted Ontario Agricultural Minister William A. Stewart.

A booklet cover reproduction available at 12x18" or 24x36" on Epson Enhanced Matte 192 gsm paper printed with Epson UltraChrome XD2 archival ink. Sold in an open edition, unframed. The Ontario Department of Agriculture wordmark on this cover has been replaced with the words ”Ontario Gardening News” due to Section 9 of the Canadian Trademarks Act.
