One of the Gregorian calendar’s greatest tricks is that every year’s calendar is identical to the calendar either six or eleven years before it. So, the days on 2027’s calendar are arranged the same as those on 1926, 1937, 1943, 1954, 1965, 1971, 1982, 1993, 1999, 2010, and 2021 calendars, and that fact is what this calendar relies upon.

Within it you can find twelve months collaged together in both of Canada’s official languages. They have such diverse heritages as a promotional calendar published by the Parisian print shop Camis & Cie in April of 1926, a French tea towel calendar woven in 1971, the calendar-bearing cover of Fashion Calendar’s 7 June. 1954 issue, and an excerpt from the San Antonio Independent School District’s 1993 school year schedule.

Yes, you might occasionally be late for a meeting because you thought it was on Lundi in Avril of 1926 instead of Monday, but who cares? You’ve just taken a nice walk through my favourite shapes and a century of Anglo-French calendar design.

Two other things of note: you can get yours printed in a custom colour at no extra charge—send me a CMYK code and I’ll take it from there. Also, this will go out of print on the 31st of January, 2027.

Available at 18x24" on Epson Enhanced Matte 192 gsm paper printed with Epson UltraChrome XD2 archival ink. Sold in an open edition, unframed, signed and dated on reverse.
