Welcome print series
Welcome print series
If you've road-tripped through Canada, you know its city and town entrance signs have transcended wayfinding into fine art. "Welcome to British Columbia," "Welcome to the Prairie Provinces," "Welcome to Ontario," "Bienvenue à Québec," "Welcome to the Maritimes" and "Welcome to Newfoundland & Labrador" are the first six entries in my "Welcome" series, and together they've collected almost 400 Canadian welcome signs from the last century.
They span from the neo-art nouveau masterpiece that currently stands guard at the entrance of Atlin, BC, to the civic modernist placard at the entrance to St. John's, NF, in the 1990s. Not to be missed along the way: the burled monolith in Banff, Fond-du-Lac’s white wolves, the gentle wave coming from Flintabbatey Flonatin in Flin Flon, Woodstock's giant iron man, the pastoral enigma of Saint-Louis du Ha Ha, Québec, and the hand-drawn Scotsman watching from the forest near Meat Cove, NS Next stop? The North.
Each print is available in two different sizes on Epson Enhanced Matte 192 gsm paper printed with Epson UltraChrome XD2 archival ink. Sold in an open edition, unframed, signed and dated on reverse.
